Former NHL player Adam Johnson, aged 29, tragically died in a "freak accident" during a game in the UK's Elite Ice Hockey League.
The incident occurred when Johnson, playing for the Nottingham Panthers, was involved in a mid-ice collision with the Sheffield Steelers, resulting in a skate blade injury to his neck.
Despite trying to return to the bench, he was stopped by officials and teammates who called for help.
Johnson was transported to a local hospital but sadly passed away.
The EIHL postponed all games on Sunday, and Johnson was remembered as a talented player with a bright future.
