Doja Cat set to return with pop-driven album ‘Vie’

Doja Cat is preparing to release her fifth studio album, Vie, which arrives on September 26, 2025, through RCA and Kemosabe Records. Unlike her last project, Scarlet, this record is being positioned as a major shift toward a pop-driven sound, infused with retro elements and deeply personal themes. The artist has described Vie as an intentional embrace of pop, not a commercial compromise, with the album exploring love, romance, relationships, sexuality, hope, and self-acceptance. Emotional naivety and “love bombing” are set to be recurring motifs, offering a more introspective look at modern relationships.

The lead single, Jealous Type, was released on August 21, 2025. Produced by Jack Antonoff and Y2K, the track blends disco-pop, funk-pop, and pop-rap, and its lyrics dive into jealousy in relationships, balancing vulnerability with confidence. The accompanying music video, released the same day, leaned heavily into 1980s aesthetics with neon visuals, stylized choreography, and playful sensuality, setting the tone for the visual direction of the era.

Doja Cat’s rollout for Vie has been highly visual and interactive. She launched the Vie Hotline in August, a fan engagement project that allowed callers to hear snippets of dialogue connected to jealousy, intimacy, and trust, directly tying into the album’s central themes. Across social media, she has adopted bold neon branding and teased snippets of unreleased tracks, building anticipation for the project. Her performances at major events, including the Outside Lands Festival, have introduced audiences to the new material and given a glimpse of how the record translates live.

To support the album, Doja Cat will embark on the Ma Vie World Tour, which begins on November 18, 2025, in Auckland, New Zealand, and concludes on December 21, 2025, in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, with the possibility of additional dates. The tour will showcase her new pop-oriented sound and accompanying visuals on a global stage.

With its mix of polished production, lyrical honesty, and retro flair, Vie is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated pop releases of late 2025. For Doja Cat, it represents not only a return to pop but also a chance to reframe the genre on her own terms, with both artistic maturity and playful creativity.
