Five young men in Mexico were lured by a fake job offer and later brutally murdered by a Mexican drug cartel.

The victims, aged 19 to 22 and students, sought employment in private security, meeting a contact in town who led them to the Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) cartel.

The cartel intended to recruit them but killed them when they declined.

The victims were identified as Roberto Olmeda, Diego Lara, Uriel Galvan, Jaime Martinez, and Dante Cedillo.

Call centers promising high-paying jobs were used to deceive young people into CJNG's forced recruitment.

The identities of the responsible cartel and the victims' bodies were located by authorities.

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador expressed regret over the killings.
